The Gaslight Anthem American Slang Review

The Gaslight Anthems Third Album American Slang, is there third studio album and the follow up of The '59 Sound, which brought them from the underground up to the surface and onto the map. They had high expectations coming off such a great album that anything less than steller would have been a let down.

The album starts off with a smash American Slang, which really hooks you into the album and makes you want to keep listening. The Next three songs Stay Lucky, Bring It On and The Diamonds Church Street Choir, starting with Stay Lucky brings you back to vintage Gaslight Anthem with the fast guitar riff and heartfelt lyrics. Bring It On, which might be the best song on the Album, hits you hard and you can feel the passion in this song. The Diamonds Church Street Choir, brings you back in time to 50s-esk sound.

The Middle of the Album starts off with The Queen of Lower Chelsea is a slower heart felt song which seems to be a love ballad. Orphans, Boxer and Old Haunts round off the middle of the album Orphans, is a song that seems to tackle the subject of someone walking out on a family. Boxer is a up-tempo feel good jam that tells a tale of a boxer, one of the best songs on the album. Old Haunts a solid ballad rounds off the middle of the album leading into the end.

The End of the Album brings The Spirit Of Jazz, which will be the newest single coming in November is a short but sweet song that is hard not to like. The Final Song We Did It When We Were Young seems to be there worst effort on the album, kind of expected a better song to end the stellar album.
